Dr. Comfort

The diabetic foot is often delicate and vulnerable. Regular examination and preventative care can go a long way to guard against more serious problems from developing. With regular preventative care, a diabetic patient’s feet can and should last a lifetime.

Properly fitted shoes, softer materials and increased toe room are essential for preventing chafing, blisters or infection from developing, especially if numbness (neuropathy) or poor circulation is present.

Under the Medicare program, diabetic patients qualify for one new pair of diabetic shoes each year to help ensure proper comfort, fit and protection.
